having been frustrated with inconsistent results trying to refill other HP cartridges (which require drilling holes for injection needles), this system seemed to offer some real advantages. however, frustration set in again when using the refill pedestal & finding that ink remained in the pedestal, rather than filling the cartridge. since i was attempting to refill the cartridges that came with my printer (which i was assured by the seller are not "starter" cartridges) & customer support assured me that i couldn't refill those cartridges, i gave up on the pedestal.
these HP920 cartridges have a very large hole on the bottom where the ink comes out to the printhead, so all that is needed (even on my allegedly "starter" cartridges) is to set the cartridge upside down & slowly drip ink (from a filler syringe i already had from a previous refill kit) into that conveniently large hole. when the ink becomes slow to absorb, it's full -- and i'm all done! when i tried to go beyond that point, ink would run out the vent hole in the top of the cartridge. took only one "oops" to learn my lesson, & it hasn't happened again. i'll use the ink from this system, but the pedestals are not a benefit to me.
