Hello:
Brother MFC-J4700W only detects black
The M/C/Y all have question marks.
I am running Version E
and have not installed any updates.
I even installed the original cartridges.
with no ? marks over the colors.
but when the CIS system goes back in same issue.

Thanks

Hello Jeff,

As per our conversation, Here are our recommended models at the moment:

EPSON
WF 3620, 7620, 7610, 7110.
WF pro 4010 4020 4023 4040 4090 4520 4530 4540 4533 4590

BROTHER
Generally any printer that uses the LC103 Cartridges, preferably one with an older version firmware. Just note that if there is a firmware update, just like the recent one now, it will take us about 3-5 months before we start carrying the chips for them. We are estimating to get new chips for the recent update by June or July.

Hello,

The question mark signifies that the ink levels cannot be read on the printer.

I would suggest sending a print job to the computer to see if it still allows you to print.

If anything, you can try to reset the ink levels once one of the colors reach zero on the printer first.
